General Guidelines

No maintenance or cleaning products should be applied until 2 weeks after the wood floor has been completed to allow for the finish to fully cure. Do not use water to clean wood floors, always use a recommended cleaner.

Never use vinyl or tile floor care products on wood floors, they can cause the floor to become slippery and appear dull.

Place mats and throw rugs at doorway exteriors and interiors to help prevent the tracking of grit and dirt on your wood flooring. Never wet-mop a wood floor. Standing water can stain or damage the wood. Wipe up food and other spills immediately with a slightly dampened towel.

Place soft plastic or fabric faced glides under the legs of furniture to prevent scratching of your wood floor. When moving heavy furniture, completely pick it up rather than sliding it across the floor to best protect your wood flooring. Try not to let people walk on the wood floor with stiletto-heeled shoes as these can cause damage.

With regards to cleaning I would recommend the following product

Maintenance

Everyday maintenance Use a broom, duster or vacuum to remove any dust.

Weekly / Fortnightly maintenance Use warm clean water in a bucket and add a capful of the manufacturers recommended wash  additive – use a damp well wrung out mop to clean and freshen your floor. (do not use generic flooring cleaners as these can breakdown the top coat). (Bona Mop as recommended above)

Every 12 months (depending on traffic) Apply manufacturers recommended polish to areas of high traffic, this product can be sprayed directly onto the floor surface and rubbed in using a lint free cloth.

Every 5 – 10 years (depending on traffic) (Saicos Hardwax Oil Matt) Saicos 3305 Matt..

Eventually the top coat finish will begin to wear and at this point it is recommended to apply another coat of the original top coat finish, please check with your supplier which is the appropriate finish for your floor
